Our beautiful girl is gone...

'Sarah Jessica Barker'
27 April 2006 - 3 April 2012
RIP sweet girl
Our hearts are broken. Our beautiful Sarah is gone. She died yesterday at 5:30 in the afternoon at the hospital where she was receiving her care. We were there with her, as was her little brother Ulee.

Just nine weeks ago, I shared with you this story of Sarah and how much she means to our family. She brought 'joie de vive', the joy of life, into our home at a time when it was sorely needed, and we shall never forget her.

Sarah was such a young dog; she died only a couple of weeks short of her sixth birthday. We find it hard to understand why a little being who brought only joy into this world should be taken away from it, especially in a world that needs joy.

The little red ball that Sarah so much loved to play with now sits still upon my desk. It will remind me of all the laughter that Sarah brought into our lives.

Each and every day we will look at photographs of our girl and try to remember the joy, but for now only tears fill the place she once loved.

  1. I understand your pain. I hope, in a few days, you can think more of all the fun and not the loss. We have them for such a short time but they add so much to our lives. They love us no matter what. I hope you find a meaningful way to honor her in your daily lives. Maybe that ball needs a shadow box, photo of Sarah as a background and a place on your wall. Find peace.

  2. Dear Jenn,

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Take some time to grieve and remember all the happy times with your lovely girl.

  3. A fitting tribute, sending, once again, my hugs. Hopes for you for a joyful peace in the days that come.

  4. I am so sorry for your loss. We lost our dog a little over a month ago to terminal lung cancer. It was very sudden also. Remembering to many happy times does help.

  5. Thanks Michelle. I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog too.

  6. Oh, Jennifer, I'm so very sorry. I understand the heartbreak because I've experienced it in the past. The heart eventually begins to heal but I'm not sure missing a beloved companion ever goes away. Little Sarah was adorable.

  7. Sorry to hear about the loss of your beloved companion, Jennifer. She looks like such a sweetie!

  8. I remember feeling the pain with you when you wrote that last post on Sarah. It is so hard to lose such a precious giver-of-joy. I know you cherished her so much, Jennifer. I don't think there is anything I--or anyone--could say to help make it better, but I do hope for you that the pain will be eased by allowing the good memories to become resident in you.

  9. I am so sad for you Jennifer. she was still so young and gave so much love and happiness. Her spirit will remain with you.
