So far, I have found two wills of deceased soldiers from my family, and look forward to the possibility of finding more once the digitization project is complete.

Cheers,
JenniferÉire Historianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04588116386284997687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-390677411039765188.post-11482088753252628032013-01-07T21:30:58.872+00:002013-01-07T21:30:58.872+00:00An interesting post. Thanks for your comment. The Irish Guard...Hi Bill,

Thanks for your comment. The Irish Guards has a very interesting history, since it was formed by Queen Victoria in 1900 to commemorate the bravery of Irish soldiers during the Boer War. The Guards fought at Ypres, suffering major casualties, as well as on the Somme during World War 1. Do you have your grandad's record of service? If not, and if it is extant, you can get it from the Regimental Headquarters in London England. All of the RHQs are located in the Wellington Barracks on Birdcage Walk. They not only have records, but they have photographs as well.

Cheers,
JenniferÉire Historianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04588116386284997687noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-390677411039765188.post-5104440893476124982013-01-07T08:38:44.379+00:002013-01-07T08:38:44.379+00:00Think my Grandad was in the Irish Guards.Think my Grandad was in the Irish Guards.Billy Blue Eyeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12053172567806569702noreply@blogger.com
