Blog Caroling: Nollaig Shona Dhuit, Merry Christmas to All!

The decorations are up, the house is warm by the fire, and once again it's time to join in as footnoteMaven invites us to celebrate the season by Blog Caroling.   I offer two pieces for this year's celebration:

On this blog is 'Nollaig Shona Dhuit', Merry Christmas to All!, a musical journey of photographs of my wonderful Irish family through time.  It is accompanied by 'The Wexford Carol', a very beautiful and traditional Irish Christmas carol. Alison Krauss sings it, accompanied by Yo-Yo Ma and Natalie McMaster.  The carol is said to have originated in 12th century County Wexford, Ireland.  I hope you enjoy it.

On my cemetery blog, 'Over thy dead body' , I hope you'll stop by and have a look at and a listen to 'Angels heard on High', a video which includes brand new images of Angel stones I shot at Glasnevin and Mount Jerome cemeteries in Dublin, set to a traditional carol, 'Angels We Have Heard On High', sung by the Christendom College Choir.

Happy Blog Christmas Caroling!

May you and yours enjoy all the blessings of the season!

Jennifer, such a haunting melody. Thanks for posting that. My daughter had heard this piece before and was wanting to get it, but didn't know the artist's name. Thanks for posting the credits...a Christmas gift possibility for me to get now!!!

I just listened to this last night while trying to decide my favorite Christmas carol. This is a beautiful song and I love how Alison Krauss sings it. Thanks for sharing your beautiful family photographs.

Hello Jacqi, and Charlene, and Nancy,

Thank you to each one of you for your comments; I really appreciate them. I love this carol too, am glad to hear that all of you do as well, and am glad you like the photos.

Charlene, I am only in one photograph, and it's one of my favourites. It's the photo with my parents and brother; my dad and I are on horseback, and my mom and my brother are driving a pony and trap. It was taken after we rode through the Gap of Dunloe in Killarney Ireland. The trail has been turned into a bike path, and you can no longer ride horses there, so I'm very grateful to have been able to do that with my family.

Cheers to each one of you,
Jennifer

Jennifer,
I am a big fan of photoshows that combine music with family pictures. I love your use of collages. This is beautiful. Did you use any particular software to put this together? Merry Christmas.

Hi Kathy,

Thank you so much for your comments; I really appreciate them.

I work on a Mac and have found I really prefer Apple software for these types of projects. For the one on this blog I used Aperture 3 and then produced a QuickTime movie. For my other blog I used iMovie.

Cheers to you and Merry Christmas,
Jennifer
